Together for a Better Future: Moving Forward Launches in Czechia

– Written by the Moving Forward team on 3rd June 2025

We are excited to announce the launch of the Moving Forward project in the Czech Republic! After the successful implementation of the project in several European countries, Moving Forward is now expanding to the Czech Republic, in collaboration with the local association, Společnost pro pomoc při Huntingtonově chorobě.

Moving Forward is a project created by the European Huntington Association to provide better answers to the young people from HD families – whether they are at risk, are gene-positive, or gene-negative.

The Moving Forward project shows that even in the face of genetic challenges, we can create a connected, supportive, and informed community across generations and borders. Only a strong HD community has the power to lead meaningful change.

The national coordinator for the Czech Republic is Nikola Krejčířová, a young woman from an HD family. According to Nikola, joining the Moving Forward initiative is a meaningful step for supporting the next generation of the HD community in the Czech Republic:

“This collaboration is a great opportunity to help and better understand families affected by Huntington’s disease here in the Czech Republic. It will help us build a stronger community, both locally and across Europe. The project will provide us with valuable tools to grow stronger together. I believe we will get closer to young people from HD families and fight together for a better future.”

Zdeňka Vondráčková,  the President of the Czech HD Association, shared her thoughts about this new collaboration:
“I am very pleased that the Czech Republic has joined the Moving Forward project. It brings me great joy to see young people like Nikola Krejčířová actively connecting the Czech HD community with others across Europe. Moving Forward is a valuable initiative that raises awareness about Huntington’s disease and reminds us of the importance of working together—patients, families, doctors, and researchers—to find better care, deeper understanding, and ultimately a cure. HD affects not only individuals, but entire families, and we must stand together to support each other.”
