EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESSFUL WORK

MOVING FORWARD PROMOTES AN ONLINE TRAINING COURSE FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN RUSSIA

For the first time in Russia, there will be an international online course for healthcare professionals organized by the European Huntington Association (EHA) – Moving Forward Project. Top experts from different countries will meet on one online platform to share their knowledge and experience in treating and caring for people with a rare genetic neurological disease – Huntington’s disease (HD).

“Let Us Talk” is a web-based communication skills training course that aims to educate and guide healthcare professionals on how to use effective communication skills to optimize their relationship with HD patients and families. The project was one of EFNA’s chosen grant recipients in 2021

During three sessions (January 15, 22 and 29, 2022), specialists from Europe, the U.S.A and Russia, as well as foreign and national HD family members will be talking about different aspects of the disease.

This is a unique opportunity to listen to renowned experts in the field of Huntington’s Disease in an interactive format and to ask questions. The course program is designed in such a way that you do not need to be a specialist in Huntington’s disease to attend it. The course is equally useful and important for all healthcare professionals. You can check the program here

The Moving Forward team believes this course is a very important initiative, as HD patients and families often require extra attention and a special approach. In many ways, the treatment success depends on how closely the patient/family member and healthcare professional  interact. Patients and family members will be more willing to follow recommendations if they trust their doctor. Specialists should be able to establish a close contact and make HD families  feel comfortable. If a doctor knows the specificities of the disease and the impact of its symptoms on daily life it will be easier to suggest effective treatments.
