“Only Together Can We Move Forward”
Moving Forward Presented to the Polish HD Community
– Written by the Moving Forward team on 23rd April 2026
At a recent meeting of the Polish Huntington’s Disease Association – the 34th Congress of the Polish Huntington’s Disease Association and the International Scientific Conference, held in Warsaw – the Moving Forward project was presented to the Polish HD community by the Polish project coordinator, Marta Tomczyk.
During the meeting, participants learned more about the goals of the Moving Forward project and were invited to take part in a new survey created for the Polish HD community. Flyers with a QR code linking directly to the survey were distributed during the event, encouraging people to share their voices and help identify the most important unmet needs.
The survey will help guide future activities in Poland, including online educational sessions and initiatives designed around the needs of the community.
Among the themes that have already emerged as especially important are practical support for caregivers, everyday life in families affected by HD, and emotional and psychological support, particularly for younger people growing up in HD families.
The meeting in Warsaw was filled with warmth, openness, and genuine connection. It was a meaningful opportunity for families, supporters, and members of the community to come together, exchange experiences, and remind one another that no one has to face Huntington’s disease alone. In a community like this, burdens can be shared, while care, hope, and mutual support grow stronger.
