From hope to action

How can you get involved in Huntington’s disease research in Spain? – Our March 26 Online Session

– Written by the Moving Forward team on April 2nd 2026

On March 26, our community came together around a powerful question: how can we get involved in Huntington’s disease research?

What unfolded was more than an informational session. It became a space where knowledge met opportunity — opening doors for individuals and families to take an active role in the future of Huntington’s disease research in Spain.

A total of 156 participants registered from across the Spanish-speaking world, including Spain, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay.

For 62 participants, this was their first time signing up for an online event related to Huntington’s disease. On the day of the session, 87 people joined live. Taking part in a session like this is often the first step toward empowerment — a way to better understand not only the disease itself, but also the opportunities to contribute to progress.

The session focused on presenting the current opportunities to participate in Huntington’s disease research in Spain, offering clear and practical information for those interested in getting involved. Participants had the opportunity to hear directly from leading experts in the field — José Luis López-Sendón, Marian Acera, Jesús Pérez, and Claudia Perandones — who shared insights into the active studies and research projects planned for 2026, as well as the criteria for participation.

To further support those interested in taking the next step, attendees were encouraged to reach out directly to the research teams. Contact emails for Claudia PerandonesMarian Acera and Jesús Pérez have been made available to facilitate a potential involvement.

Their contributions helped make the research process more accessible and understandable for everyone attending — from those newly introduced to the topic to those already familiar with the disease.

We were also joined by 7 healthcare professionals and researchers, whose presence highlighted the importance of collaboration between the community and the scientific field. Building bridges between these worlds is essential to advancing research and improving outcomes.

The session was recorded and is now available to watch here:
